As a result of efforts carried out under the coordination of our University’s Technology Transfer Office (TTO), two different service inventions, the ownership rights of which belong to our University, have been brought into the commercialization process.
The invention titled “A System and Method for Detecting Individuals Not Wearing Shoe Covers Using an Artificial Intelligence-Based Image Processing Method” was developed by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kemal Erdoğan from the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, together with Zehra Nilgün Soydemir, Director of Karatay Municipality Mevlana Kindergarten, and has been included in the commercialization process.
Another invention, titled “A Secure Student Calling System from Classrooms in Schools,” which is covered by a registered patent, was also developed by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mücahid Barstuğan and Asst. Prof. Dr. Kemal Erdoğan from the same department and has reached the stage of implementation.
Within the scope of the process, the necessary agreements were signed between our Rector, Prof. Dr. Osman Nuri Çelik, representing our University, and MKEY Technology Automation Industry and Trade Ltd. Co., marking an important step toward transferring these inventions to industry.
In his statement regarding this achievement, our Rector Prof. Dr. Osman Nuri Çelik said, “It is a great source of pride for us that innovative studies developed at our University are being commercialized and transformed into societal benefit. I congratulate our academicians on this important achievement and hope that such efforts, which strengthen university–industry collaboration, will continue to increase.”
