At our university’s Technical Sciences Vocational School, the Construction Technology Program and the Building Insulation Technology Program successfully completed the accreditation process conducted by the Vocational Education Evaluation and Accreditation Association (MEDEK) and were awarded conditional accreditation for two years.
According to the criteria set by MEDEK, the programs that passed the preliminary evaluation underwent a detailed review during a site visit. As part of the visit, the MEDEK evaluation team held an introductory and information meeting with our university’s senior management, attended by our Rector Prof. Dr. Osman Nuri Çelik, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Nurettin Çetinkaya, and General Secretary Kamil Gök.
During the visit, comprehensive information was shared about the accreditation process, the structure of the programs, and quality assurance practices. The evaluation team’s leader reviewed administrative processes with relevant departments, while team members held separate sessions with teaching staff and student representatives to examine educational activities, learning outcomes, and quality assurance mechanisms. In meetings with industry representatives, the alignment of the programs with sector needs and graduate competencies was also discussed.
Following the site visit and evaluations, it was confirmed that both the Construction Technology Program and the Building Insulation Technology Program met MEDEK’s criteria and earned conditional accreditation for two years.
Our Rector Prof. Dr. Osman Nuri Çelik stated that evaluating the instructional activities of vocational schools within the framework of national quality standards is an important part of the university’s quality-oriented vision, and that the accreditation of these two programs by MEDEK is a tangible reflection of their practice-based education approach and continuous improvement culture.
Prof. Dr. Mustafa Altın, Director of the Technical Sciences Vocational School, also noted that the accreditation process allowed the programs not only to highlight their strengths but also to systematically address areas open to development, and that the accreditation certifies the quality of education offered to students.
