The Opening of the Academic Year at Our University Took Place with a Grand Ceremony

The academic year opening at our university was held with a ceremony. In addition to our Rector, Prof. Dr. Osman Nuri Çelik, the ceremony was attended by the Governor of Konya, İbrahim Akın, the Deputy General Manager of Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAŞ) and the Chairman of the Board of Turkish Engine Industries (TEI), Prof. Dr. Fahrettin Öztürk, the Rector of Necmettin Erbakan University, Prof. Dr. Cem Zorlu, as well as our Vice Rectors, Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Deveci and Prof. Dr. Ali Köken, our General Secretary, Kamil Gök, and many academicians and students.

 

Before the program, a tree was planted at the Gelişim Campus in memory of the martyrs who lost their lives in the recent terrorist attack on TUSAŞ.

 

The first speaker at the event, Climate Ambassador Representative Emine Taştı, emphasized the importance of efforts against global climate change, stating that Konya Technical University has made significant contributions in terms of recycling and reducing the carbon footprint. She also expressed her gratitude to Rector Çelik.

 

                        Rector Çelik: 'We Will Work Harder, We Will Produce More'

 

Later, taking the podium, our Rector, Prof. Dr. Çelik, emphasized that they would work harder and produce more in line with the 'Century of Turkey' goal. Providing information about the university and the ongoing academic work, Rector Çelik stated that KTÜN, with its academic history dating back to the 1970s, has a deep-rooted accumulation and is training young scientists who are walking towards the future with hope. Particularly highlighting their role as pioneers of development through their work in the defense industry, Prof. Dr. Çelik wished that the 2024-2025 academic year would be beneficial for the entire academic community and KTÜN.

 

Governor Akın: 'KTÜN is at the Forefront of Scientific Development and Innovation'

 

After Rector Çelik, Governor of Konya, İbrahim Akın, took the podium and drew attention to KTÜN's achievements in academia. 'KTÜN not only develops science but also leads it,' said Governor Akın. 'Being under this roof means pursuing a scientific ideal. KTÜN has once again proven its scientific success by ranking 11th among 126 universities. Additionally, it made Konya proud once again by winning 9 awards at this year's Teknofest held in Adana.'

Lastly, Prof. Dr. Fahrettin Öztürk, the Deputy General Manager of Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAŞ) and Chairman of the Board of Turkish Engine Industries (TEI), expressed that KTÜN's successes made them proud and mentioned that he himself was a 1992 graduate of KTÜN. Continuing his speech, Öztürk said: 'I am a 1992 graduate of this university. Young people, our eyes should always be on higher goals. If someone can achieve something anywhere in the world, we can do it too. We will achieve this with our universities.' On this occasion, he wished a fruitful 2024-2025 academic year for everyone.

 

After the speeches, the first lecture was delivered by Prof. Dr. Öztürk.

 

After the lecture, Rector Çelik and other protocol members presented the professorship certificates to the faculty members who received their professorships during Rector Çelik's term, as well as appreciation plaques to the teams who won awards at Teknofest.
