The 62nd Library Week was celebrated under the theme ‘Healing Libraries’

The 62nd Library Week was celebrated with events organized under the theme “Healing Libraries.” The program, held at our University Library, was attended by our Rector Prof. Dr. Osman Nuri Çelik, our Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Ali Köken, our Secretary General Kamil Gök, academic and administrative staff, and many students.

In his opening speech, Head of the Library and Documentation Department Ayhan Tekin stated that our University Library, established in 2020, has shown significant development in a short period of time. Tekin noted that physical and electronic resources are increased every year and made available to users, emphasizing that the user-oriented service approach has been further strengthened through ongoing improvement efforts.

Tekin also mentioned that the library remains open until 11:00 PM during midterm and final exam weeks, adding that their goal is to keep the library open 24 hours a day. Referring to the theme “Healing Libraries,” Tekin emphasized that libraries are important living spaces that guide individuals from haste to patience, from disorder to order, from doubt to research, from memorization to inquiry, and from loneliness to sharing.

In his speech, our Rector Prof. Dr. Osman Nuri Çelik stated that libraries are not only places for accessing information but also important environments that contribute to individuals’ intellectual development and support learning processes. Highlighting that the theme “Healing Libraries” draws attention to the role of the bond established with books and knowledge in both individual and social development, our Rector emphasized that, as a university, continuous improvement of library services is given great importance. He also expressed that such events, which promote a culture of reading, make significant contributions to university life.

As part of the event, a reading activity was held with the participation of attendees. The program then continued with the traditional award ceremony. Awards were presented by our Rector Prof. Dr. Osman Nuri Çelik and our Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Ali Köken to library users who read the most books and used databases most effectively in 2025.

This year, the “My Book Face” photo contest, organized for the first time on social media platforms, also attracted great interest. The three students whose photos received the highest number of likes were awarded.

The traditional award ceremony, held this year under the main sponsorship of Hiperkitap and with contributions from Eazy Solutions, Yordam, Clarivate, Piri Discovery Tool, Ebsco, Online Bilgi, and Accucoms, concluded with a group commemorative photo.
