The certificate and flag of Konya Technical University (KTUN) Faculty of Architecture and Design and the Rectorate building, which was entitled to receive the "Orange Flag Award" in the field of "Accessibility in Space" at the Barrier-Free University flag awards organized by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), was presented to the unit coordinator Assoc. Dr. Bilgehan Yılmaz Çakmak by Rector Prof. Dr. Babür Özçelik.

 

The ceremony was attended by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. H. Selçuk Halkacı, Advisor to the Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Karaman, Chairman of Directorate of Construction and Technical Affairs Prof. Dr. Mevlüt Uyan, and Disabled Student Unit Coordinator. Rector Prof. Dr. Babür Özçelik said, "In the award ceremony, traditionally given by YÖK since 2018 and held this year with the themes of "barrier-free access" and "barrier-free education; barrier-free university flag awards were given to higher education institutions in a ceremony held by video conference method due to the Covid-19 pandemic in 3 categories: "accessibility in space", "accessibility in education" and "accessibility in socio-cultural activities" with the presence of The President of YÖK, Prof. Dr. M. A. Yekta Saraç. Rector Özçelik continued, “Our University Faculty of Architecture and Design was among the Universities that received the 2020 Space Accessibility Award (Orange Flag). This award means that the efforts of our university, which took steps for a barrier-free university, were rewarded. We believe that in the coming years, our university will be entitled to receive the Barrier-Free University and YÖK Physical Accessibility Flag Awards (Blue and Green Flag) in all its units by completing the studies it has started within the scope of the "Accessible University" project. I would like to thank our units for their devoted work during this process.”

 

Then, the certificate and flag of the Faculty of Architecture and Design and the Rectorate building, which were entitled to receive the "Orange Flag Award", were presented by Rector Prof. Dr. Babür Özçelik to Disabled Student Unit Coordinator Assoc. Dr. Bilgehan Yılmaz Çakmak. The program came to a close with the raising of the Orange Flag and a group photo shoot.
