On January 13, 2026, Prof. Dr. Murat Ceylan, a faculty member in the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences of our university, was elected as a full member of the Sigma Xi Scientific Research Honor Society, one of the most respected scientific organizations in the world.
Sigma Xi membership—recognized globally with more than 60,000 distinguished members—is granted based on high academic standards, including a strong record of scientific publications in high-impact international journals, broad citation impact, and significant contributions to the advancement of science and technology. Membership is awarded through nomination by the Sigma Xi Scientific Council or by two existing members.
Sigma Xi’s international and interdisciplinary community includes many scientists who have shaped the history of science. Among its members are more than 200 Nobel laureates, such as Albert Einstein, Enrico Fermi, Richard Feynman, and Jennifer Doudna.
In recognition of this achievement, Prof. Dr. Ceylan visited our Rector, Prof. Dr. Osman Nuri Çelik, at his office. During the visit, Prof. Dr. Ceylan shared information about his academic work and the Sigma Xi membership process, and Rector Çelik congratulated him on this important international success and wished him continued achievement in his scientific endeavors.
