A Four-Year Period Evaluated at Our University: Academic, Scientific, and Institutional Strengthening

At a press conference held with the participation of our Rector, Prof. Dr. Osman Nuri Çelik, the university’s academic, scientific, and institutional development over the past four years was shared with the public.

 

The meeting, held at our University’s Development Campus with the participation of esteemed members of the Konya press, was attended by our Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Nurettin Çetinkaya and Prof. Dr. Ali Köken, Rector’s Advisor and Head of the Construction and Technical Affairs Department Osman Deniz Şimşek, and our Secretary General Kamil Gök.

 

Our Rector, Prof. Dr. Osman Nuri Çelik, provided a comprehensive evaluation of the projects implemented during his term of office, the academic achievements attained, and the university’s future vision. Emphasizing that the university has undergone a strong transformation not only quantitatively but also qualitatively, he stated that their goal is to become a strong research university that produces science, develops technology, and contributes to society.

 

A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE AT THE NEW MAIN CAMPUS

 

During the press conference, up-to-date information about Konya Technical University’s Main Campus project was also shared. It was stated that significant progress has been made in infrastructure, transportation, and superstructure works on the campus area, which was preliminarily allocated on March 21, 2024. Çelik noted that the first phase project process of the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences was completed as of July 2025, emphasizing that the new campus has been planned with a modern, sustainable, and student-centered approach.

 

Our Rector, Prof. Dr. Osman Nuri Çelik, expressed his gratitude to all stakeholders—especially President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Murat Kurum, and İbrahim Uğur Altay—for their support of the Main Campus project.

 

INCREASE IN ACADEMIC STAFF, STUDENT NUMBERS, AND RESEARCH CAPACITY

 

Stating that the academic staff has been significantly strengthened over the past four years, our Rector announced that the number of professors increased from 91 to 121, while the number of associate professors rose from 57 to 74. The total number of academic staff reached 521, and the number of students reached 10,397. Achieving a 98% occupancy rate in the 2025 YKS placements was considered an important indicator of trust in the university.

 

Çelik also stated that within the scope of Scientific Research Projects, the budget allocated to projects reached 9 million 651 thousand TL in 2025, noting that the university’s research capacity continues to strengthen each year.

 

UNIVERSITY–INDUSTRY COLLABORATION AND INTERNATIONAL ACHIEVEMENTS

 

Emphasizing the increase in collaborations with Konya’s industrial sector, our Rector stated that in 2025, 165 assignments were carried out with 68 academics, and a total of 66 cooperation protocols were signed. It was noted that collaborations conducted with TÜBİTAK, KOSGEB, Technopark, and the Technology Transfer Office contribute to transforming knowledge production into economic value.

 

Çelik also stated that Konya Technical University continues to rise in national and international rankings, noting that achievements in URAP, Scopus, TÜBİTAK, and international indexes strengthen the university’s vision of becoming a research university.

 

STUDENTS, ACADEMICIANS, AND SOCIETAL CONTRIBUTION

 

In addition to academics being involved in TÜBİTAK projects and international scientist lists, it was stated that students have achieved significant success in many national and international organizations, particularly TEKNOFEST. Investments in library and research infrastructure, sustainability efforts, zero-waste practices, and social responsibility projects were also highlighted as priority areas of the university.

 

At the end of the meeting, our Rector, Prof. Dr. Osman Nuri Çelik, emphasized that with the concrete data achieved over the past four years, Konya Technical University has become one of Türkiye’s rising higher education institutions. He stated that they will continue their efforts with determination to become a university that enhances scientific productivity, has strong international competitiveness, and creates value for society.
