HISTORY
Konya Technical University Department of Geological Engineering is one of the most established departments of our university and started education in 1975 under the name of the Department of Earth Sciences, affiliated to the Faculty of Science of Selcuk University. The Department of Geological Engineering, which was included in the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture in 1982, started postgraduate education in 1983 as a Department of Earth Sciences in the Institute of Science in addition to its undergraduate education. As a result of the separation of the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture in 2012, the Department of Geological Engineering continued its education within the Faculty of Engineering. The Department of Geological Engineering was separated from Selçuk University in 2018 and was connected to the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences of Konya Technical University.
MISSION
Our mission is to make the students who prefer the Geological Engineering Department at the undergraduate level individuals who; a) are contemporary, equipped with curricula and professional knowledge that can be developed according to the conditions and needs of the age, b) Gain the ability to use their professional knowledge in problem solving, have a systematic approach and design skills in solving engineering problems, are capable of synthesis and analysis, c) are conscious of social, economic and economic responsibilities and political and legal responsibilities, respectful to professional and social ethical rules, and able to use their professional responsibility within these rules, d) Communicate socially and culturally, have an open understanding of all kinds of development, e) Adopt success and honesty in solving the problems and fulfilling their duties, f) Love and protect their professions and be in solidarity with other related professions, gain the ability to work in a multidisciplinary manner, g) Are Innovative, entrepreneurial, follow the developments in their profession, are able to use professional equipment, h) Work in the community, are preferred in their work life, are able to compete in national and international areas as reliable people, and i) Are sensitive to all kinds of environmental issues, health and safety issues, j) and as an institution our main goal is to serve our country, nation, humanity, and to be a public institution by producing sensitive solutions to the geological problems of the country and region and to raise individuals who can contribute to sustainable development by supporting organizations and industries.
VISION
Our vision is to educate researchers, qualified, respected and beneficial earth science engineers who can produce solutions in their profession by providing theoretical and practical teaching services at an international level in accordance with the needs of the country. In addition, our vision is to be an internationally recognized and respected department in the profession by making applicable scientific research in order to solve the geological problems of Turkey and Konya region.
