Purpose:

The aim of KTÜN Department of Architecture, with the design approach that integrates art and science, is to train individuals who are open to learning, who think analytically, inquire, seek maximum creativity within limits, who have three-dimensional thinking skills, who realize application-oriented professional practices with aesthetic perception, who adopt ecological approach, universal design principles and accessibility, who have built their professional ethics in their system of values, who are participators, and who build the future feeding from the tradition.

 

Vision: The vision of KTUN Department of Architecture, is to be part of a new generation of developments on sectoral basis with national and international R & D support by disseminating academic and intellectual synergy area with all the entries in the architecture profession's technical and artistic intersections in Konya, Turkey and worldwide.

 

Mission: KTUN Department of Architecture, with an education tradition dating back to 1970, takes it as its main duty to educate architects who have the ability to produce architectural design that meets technical and aesthetic requirements; who are endowed with sufficient knowledge of art, technology, and human sciences; who are able to transform their inspiration of design into  architectural expressions; who can generate academic and practical solutions to environmental problems according to their architectural dimensions; who are loyal to professional ethical values, respectful to the right to live of the nature and all living beings; who are art lovers; who have grasped the importance of lifelong learning and personal development believing empathy, and who are globally innovative and entrepreneurial.

Description of the Program: KTÜN Department of Architecture provides master’s with and without thesis and doctorate in related fields for graduates who have completed the architecture program after four years of undergraduate education. 4 Professors, 5 Associate Professors, 7 Assistant Professors and 24 Research Assistants contribute to education and training through compulsory and optional courses. In addition to architectural design studios, building elements, building materials, construction systems, architectural history and restoration courses are held in a contemporary study environment.

 

Admission and Registration Requirements:

Candidates who will be accepted to KTÜN Faculty of Architecture and Design Department of Architecture are expected to have graduated from high school or high school equivalent schools. If the candidate has a foreign high school diploma, the equivalence of this diploma must be approved by the Ministry of Education. Regarding the result of the Student Selection Exam, the candidates who provide the marks and conditions that are valid for the Department of Architecture of the Faculty of Architecture and Design in that academic year, and foreign students who gain the right to enroll in the department according to the provisions of the KTUN Student Acceptance Directive can register by bringing the documents specified by OSYM. Those enrolled in the Department of Architecture undergraduate education should not be enrolled in another formal or undergraduate open education or distance education program, as specified in the KTÜN Associate and Bachelor's Degree Education and Examination Regulation.

 

Recognition of Previous Learning: The previous learning of the students who come to the department with lateral and vertical transition is evaluated by the adaptation commission according to the curriculum of the department. In the department, the previous learning of the students who will do double major or minor is evaluated according to the provisions of the Regulation on the Principles of Transition Between Associate and Undergraduate Programs in Higher Education Institutions, and Double Major, Minor and Inter-Institutional Credit Transfer.

 

Graduation Requirements: In order to graduate from the program, students must complete 240 ECTS credits and 20 workdays on the job site together with 20 workdays on the office internship.

 

The Principles of Assessment and Evaluation: The principles of measurement and evaluation of the Architecture Program are determined according to KTÜN Associate Degree and Undergraduate Education and Examination Regulations.

 

Employment opportunities: Architects can work in construction firms and engineering architecture offices of businesses. In addition, they can work in private companies as well as public institutions such as the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, Iller Bank, municipalities and open offices as self-employed.

 

Transition to Higher Degree Programs: Candidates who successfully complete their undergraduate education in our department can study in their own fields or related fields in postgraduate programs provided that they have a valid grade in ALES exam and have sufficient knowledge of English. They can also have postgraduate education at different universities abroad by meeting the conditions of the relevant institution.
