History

Coordinatorship of Foreign Languages ​​ was established in 2019 as an administrative unit of our university. Among the reasons for its establishment, offering compulsory and elective foreign language courses taught in the departments of our university was the main reason. In addition, the process of organizing, conducting and documenting the foreign language placement test held during the student selection process for Erasmus+ programs necessitated the establishment of a coordinatorship. Similarly, conducting the compulsory foreign language exemption exam held at the beginning of the academic year and the foreign language courses opened upon the request of external stakeholders are among the reasons for the establishment of the coordinatorship. With the opening of the preparatory class at our university in the coming years, it is among the expectations that the coordinatorship will expand its mission and vision, and turn become a school of foreign languages.

Mission

As the Foreign Languages ​​Coordinatorship, our mission is to educate individuals who can follow scientific and technological developments in their departments through publications in foreign languages, communicate with people from different nations and exchange information with them by using four language skills effectively in order to carry out R & D activities both independently and in cooperation with partners from other nations. In addition, our mission is to plan and report language exams (ERASMUS+, exemption, etc.).

Vision

Our vision is to create foreign language teaching programs, teaching tools / learning materials and learning environments in all units of our university in accordance with contemporary international qualifications, to equip our students with the knowledge and skills that will enable them to benefit from the foreign language education maximally in their departments and in other domains of life, and to become an educational institution recognized with its educational quality.

Policies

Our policies are

a. To facilitate the access of all our external stakeholders to foreign language education and to open courses in coordination with the relevant units for this purpose,

b. To communicate in the target language in foreign language education, to produce a process-based and product-oriented curriculum,

c. To be connected to the international framework program (CEFR) in the curriculum development process,

d. To be transparent and accountable in all assessment and evaluation processes,

e. To clearly determine the working principles and principles of the unit to develop the institutional culture and sense of belonging,

f. To act in accordance with the concept of openness, cooperation and justice in all assignments,

g. To encourage participation in all studies for in-service development of academic staff.
