Industrial Product Design is an interdisciplinary profession that develops products, systems, services and experiences with the needs of basically improving people's life, living conditions, health and living environment, and includes user-oriented creative problem solving processes. Konya Technical University Department of Industrial Design aims to train competent designers who are intertwined with creativity and innovation, who seek solutions to the design problems of the future and who can constantly develop solutions and constantly renew themselves, who use science and art in an original way.
The Department of Industrial Product Design contributes to the welfare of the society by adopting good design principles. The services provided by industrial design, which has applications in product design, system design, service design and experience design, are important in this sense. Designers trained in this department will direct the Turkish Industry in terms of design and contribute to its development. In addition to these, it will ensure its development by supporting institutional and inter-institutional R&D studies in the field of industry. Designers who graduated from this department will provide the designers and product support that Turkish Industry needs in order to participate in the global competition and to strengthen its place in the market.
Students of the Department of Industrial Products Design will also benefit from the scientific studies, experience and knowledge of Konya Technical University that have gained international reputation in education. In addition to the technological infrastructure within the university and the management approach that encourages learning, the university's cooperation with the Ministry of Industry will contribute to the Turkish Industry and will make our students who will be trained in this department different from their regional equivalents.
Graduates can have job opportunities in all kinds of mass-produced fields such as furniture, white goods, electronics and communications, jewelry, lighting, exhibition and display, automotive sector, private sector and public sector. Graduates also have the opportunity to set up their own offices as freelance designers.
Our department was established with the decision of the University Senate dated 17.01.2020 and numbered 01-09 and also Higher Education Council dated 6.4.2020 and numbered 25254. It will admit students with central placement, but not yet.
