Purpose: To educate civil engineers who have necessary and sufficient knowledge in sciences (mathematics, statistics, physics, chemistry, etc.) for the areas of civil engineering and have the ability to use these scientific bases in professional careers and applications, who are trained adequately in the areas of civil engineering (structural engineering, mechanics, hydraulics, geotechnics, transportation, construction material, and construction management) and who can use this information, perform laboratory experiments on some fundamental issues related to civil engineering (earthquake, construction material, ground mechanics, hydraulics, transportation, etc.), interpret and analyze the results and report them, design in the areas of civil engineering and stand out in a stronger position with these skills, utilize computer technology, use professional software, learn construction management, site management and similar application processes, have effective written and verbal communication skills, identify process of a project accomplishment, have the ability to work individually and in teams and have the ability to cooperate in interdisciplinary studies, who are aware of professional and ethical responsibility, social, economic, political, and legal content of professional activities undertaken, who are aware of the professional competency and the importance of continuing education to monitor professional developments and have knowledge of professional practice.

Vision: Our vision is to be a nationally and internationally recognized and respected department that provides education and training with contemporary and international quality, contributes to science and technology with scientific research and applications, and offers the information it produces to the service of the country and humanity.

Mission: With the aim of being a department that is preferred primarily by students who have successfully completed their secondary education, our mission is to equip our students with basic and contemporary knowledge, and raise civil engineers who are competitive in the national and international arena, who successfully fulfill their duties and are preferred in related business areas, who have a systematic approach to problem solving and have gained design skills, have developed self-confidence, are prone to entrepreneurial and teamwork, who can keep up with technological developments, who use their professional authority within the framework of professional and ethical rules and know their responsibilities, who are aware of the social, economic, political and legal content of the professional activities they undertake, who are sensitive to the environment, health and safety issues, and who contribute to their country, nation and humanity with the qualified education we provide at the undergraduate level.

In addition to undergraduate education, the Department of Civil Engineering attaches great importance to postgraduate students, who are one of the most important stakeholders of scientific development. It raises graduate engineers and academicians specialized in the basic fields of civil engineering (structural, mechanical, hydraulic, geotechnical, transportation, building materials and structure management) with nationally and internationally accepted studies and publications, together with the education and training carried out at the graduate level. As an institution that contributes, produces solutions and projects to civil engineering problems, transfers the knowledge and experience it produces to the country and the service of humanity, and takes scientific excellence in international dimensions as a measure, it seeks to carry out its duty successfully and continue it. To achieve these goals, our department strives to increase the academic workforce of qualified researchers further. In order to fulfill this task, the Civil Engineering Department makes important efforts to prepare, develop, and continuously improve the necessary infrastructure, laboratory, and computer equipment for its students and staff. It is pleasing to see that this mission has been achieved to a great extent from the interviews with graduates and stakeholders and from the evaluation of the relevant survey results.

Program Description: Konya Devlet Mühendislik and Mimarlık Akademisi started education and training in the 1970-1971 academic year as the Civil Engineering Department, and in 1982 it was conjoined to the Selcuk University as the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, the Department of Civil Engineering. It was affiliated to Konya Technical University by the law published in the Official Gazette dated May 8, 2018, and numbered 30425. In the Department of Civil Engineering, with around 1100 students, undergraduate education in the areas of structural engineering, mechanics, hydraulics, geotechnics, transportation, construction materials, and construction management, as well as around 200 graduate students, education and research activities at the graduate levels are also successfully carried out. In addition to the minor and double major applications, undergraduate transfer, external transfer, and in-house transfer opportunities are also available in our department. In our department, there are 9 Professor Dr., 4 Associate Professor Dr., 12 Assistant Professor Dr., 21 Research Assistants, and 1 Lecturer. With strong academic staff, improved facilities, and laboratories, a total of 5,000 near alumni, academic studies, offering consultancy and engineering services, Konya Technical University Civil Engineering Department has adopted a well-established, successful and distinguished place among the universities that provide civil engineering education in Turkey.

Admission Registration Requirements: The student who wants to register to the department must complete the processes/exams determined by ÖSYM within the framework of the academic and legal regulations of the university. A student who has started to study in the equivalent program at Turkey or abroad can apply for transfer. Students' admissions are examined and evaluated, considering the conditions of each student and the degree to which they apply before the semester begins. More detailed information about university entrance is available in the institution's introductory catalog. If the student has Turkish language proficiency, he/she can register for any Turkish course specified in the curriculum.

Recognition of Prior Education: The adaptation commission formed in our department evaluates the previous education of the students based on the curriculum of the department and performs the adaptation procedures. The Commission conducts the admission of students to the double major and minor programs among the other departments of our university, transfer between associate and undergraduate programs in higher education institutions in accordance with the provisions of the regulation on the principles of credit transfer between institutions, double major and minor.

Graduation Requirements: There is no special final exam to be taken at the end of the academic year or to complete the program / after the completion of the program. However, there are midterm exams and two-week-long final exams, usually at the end of the semester. In addition, the student must have had a successful internship in the industry for 40 working days for graduation. The internship is a prerequisite for graduation and is also credited in the program. The experience and required workload to be gained through the internship are taken into account in the content, application, and workloads of the relevant courses within the program. For graduation, the student must have succeeded in all the courses in the program and fulfill the 240 ECTS requirement.

Measurement and Evaluation Principles: It is explained in the course syllabus and application form of the related course. For detailed information, see the relevant course in the section of the course plan.

Employment opportunities: Graduates have the opportunity to find employment in a wide range of workplaces related with planning, project design, construction and inspection of new constructions and evaluation and strengthening of existing structures such as residential and industrial constructions, transport structures such as roads and railways, hydraulic structures of public institutions such as Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, The General Directorate of State Hydraulic Works, General Directorate of Highways, Iller Bank, Municipalities and contractors doing business on these areas at homeland and abroad. Students who successfully complete the program can apply to graduate degrees in civil engineering or other disciplines that accept students from this field.

Transition to Graduate Programs: Candidates who have successfully completed their undergraduate education in our department can study in their fields or graduate programs in their respective fields, by obtaining a valid grade from the ALES exam. In addition, they can complete graduate education at different foreign universities by providing the conditions of the relevant institution.
